Physical Education

Aim
It aims to develop students’ physical competence and knowledge of movement and safety, and their ability to use these to perform in a wide range of activities associated with the development of an active and healthy lifestyle. It also develops students’ confidence and generic skills, especially those of collaboration, communication, creativity, critical thinking, as well as the attribute of aesthetic appreciation. These, together with the nurturing of positive values and attitudes in PE, are foundation for students’ life-long and life-wide learning to face different challenges.
 
Introduction
P.E. is an essential learning experience for all students
- of the total curriculum time in both primary and secondary schools.
- learn fundamental movement in KS1 and the skills of at least eight activities from not less than four areas in KS2 and KS3.

School-based Curriculum 
Learning objective for S1-S3 students
  • Learn at least eight sports activities from the strands of P.E. and participate actively in at least one sport activity.
  • Develop health fitness practice by teaching sports theory and training principles
  • Treating controversial sports issues with critical thinking
  • Appropriate attitude and sportsmanship in sports

 

Learning objective for S4-S6 students
  • Demonstrate the ability to participate in a variety of sports activities
  • Actively and regularly participate in at least one sports activity
  • Analyze athletic performance from multiple aspects and evaluate the effectiveness of healthy fitness programs
  • Applying problem solving skills learning from Physical Education
  • Act as a sports leader or mini coach in schools and communities
  • Demonstrate perseverance, sportsmanship, and brave to face difficulties in daily life.

The award dinner aims to recognize and celebrate the talented individuals and teams that have excelled within CCK in all sports ranging from basketball, football, cricket, baseball, table-tennis and dancing. PE Department will arrange diversified sports activities to develop students' sports skills and enhance their fitness.  Besides acquiring relevant sports knowledge, they can also cultivate positive values and attitudes and build up regular exercising habit.  We are targeting our students to accumulate at least 60 minutes medium to high intensity pgysical activity every day.

  1. Fitness Award Scheme
    Aim: Improve students’ fitness. Encouraging students to participate in sports activities and to meet the Bronze Medal in the “Fitness Award Scheme” as the basic target. 
  2. Energetic Campus
    Aim: Utilizing time before assembly, during recess and after school to increase students daily physical activity level.

Fitness Training

To improve students’ fitness level, this school year a “Fitness Dice” was being used in PE lessons. Students will randomly toss an item and repetitions, and then they will complete the respective training.

 

Fitness King & Queen

Students with highest mark of the school in each fitness item as below will be awarded a “Fitness King” or “Fitness Queen” honor.

  • Push-up (Boys)/Knees-up (Girls)

Subject Monitor Scheme

To inculcate students’ responsibility, there will be one male and one female PE subject monitor in each class. They will assist teachers to take out and collect equipment, lead the warm-up etc. They will receive a merit if their performance fulfilled the requirement.

 

Sports Society

Under teachers’ supervision, students may join the Sprots Society to organize sports events for students such as inter-class competitions. Students will build up positive values and be inculcated with sense of responsibility. Students will assist in promoting benefits of exercising and be helper during competitions, e.g. time keeping in the competition. This is also expected to enhance students’ motivation to take part in sports activity.
